Mexoryl Sunscreen

By Rhonda | April 3, 2007

With summer almost upon us, I’ve been thinking about sun protection. I’ve been out in my garden lately planting flowers and vegetables. Spring comes early in Texas!

I always try to remember to wear sunscreen with UVA/UVB protection which protects against the sun’s rays that cause sunburn and skin cancers. I certainly don’t want those!

But now that I’m getting older, I’m also concerned about the effects of aging due to the sun. These are caused by UVA rays which most sunscreens in the United States don’t protect against or offer little protection against. A compound, mexoryl, has been used in sunscreens in Europe and Japan for years to protect against UVA rays. It is considered the most effective by dermatologists.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Sunscreens

However, mexoryl sunscreen availability has been limited in the United States until recently. La Roche Posay Anthelios Sunscreens from France have mexoryl in them. With SPF 40 and SPF 50+, these mexoryl sunscreens offer great sunscreen protection against both UVA rays and also include ingredients that protect against UVB rays.

I’m excited that a mexoryl sunscreen can help with wrinkle protection. So the next time I’m out in the sun I’m going to use a mexoryl sunscreen like the La Roche Posay Anthelios Sunscreens to protect against both UVA and UVB rays!
